Background

Four Last Songs

Northern Ballet present their London Premiere of the breathtakingly beautiful Four Last Songs by the Dutch choreographer Rudi van Dantzig, first performed in 1977. The work is a contemporary ballet classic, its fluid choreography superbly underscored by Strauss’s works of the same name.

Victory Dance

The programme also includes Victory Dance, a new work by The Royal Ballet’s Kristen McNally, created on Northern Ballet dancers and Joe Powell-Main, a disabled dancer who uses wheels and crutches.

Fools

Fusing ballet and other dance styles, Olivier-award winning choreographer Mthuthuzeli November presents Fools. The new work is inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and the South African novel Hill of Fools to depict a bitter rivalry between two villages. For her performance in this work, Northern Ballet Lead Soloist Sarah Chun was nominated for an Olivier award.
